Hotheaded’ bartender stabs patron after argument over bar tab, crude remarks about victim’s dead mother: Cops

A bartender in Orlando, Florida, has been charged with attempted second-degree murder after allegedly stabbing a customer multiple times during a confrontation over a disputed bar tab.

According to a police arrest affidavit, 30-year-old Jason Wilfredo Rosario is accused of attacking a patron at Grumpy’s Underground bar on August 31. The incident reportedly stemmed from an argument over drinks that the victim claimed were never served.

Police were alerted by a woman who approached them with blood-covered hands. She explained that she had been in an alley behind the bar when she overheard a fight between two men. Moments later, one of the men brushed past her and said someone had been stabbed. She returned inside and realized she had blood on her hands after someone pointed it out.

The victim told officers the altercation began when Rosario charged him for unserved drinks. Although the bar manager resolved the billing issue, Rosario allegedly continued to verbally harass the customer, repeatedly shouting vulgar insults and making offensive comments about the victim’s deceased mother.

According to the affidavit, Rosario eventually suggested they “take it outside.” Once outside, the verbal exchange escalated. Rosario reportedly made another crude remark about the victim’s mother, prompting the victim to punch him. The two fell to the ground and began struggling, at which point Rosario allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the man several times. Witnesses say Rosario was heard saying, “I got him,” during the attack.

The victim later told police the attack happened so fast he didn’t initially realize he had been stabbed. Officers observed 10 stab wounds: seven in his back and three to his head. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

While police were still on the scene, the bar owner approached and said, “Saucy stabbed somebody and it’s not ok.” She identified the suspect as Jason Rosario, who also goes by “Joc Hip Hop.” The owner described Rosario as “hotheaded” and noted she had already decided to fire him after only three shifts.

As officers were speaking with her, Rosario reportedly called the bar. An officer answered and instructed him to return. He was later taken into custody under an arrest warrant and is currently being held at the Orange County Jail without bond.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
