A substitute teacher in Florida has been fired following a disruptive incident in a high school classroom that led to her arrest.
Angela Faith Jourdan was taken into custody Monday after authorities said she behaved erratically at Lake Minneola High School in Minneola. The school district confirmed that her employment was terminated the same day.
In a statement to News 6, the district said parents were notified and confirmed Jourdan had been hired on February 4, 2025. According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, she allegedly made inappropriate and explicit remarks to students, including claims that she would engage in sexual activity with them and referring to herself in a vulgar manner.

Deputies said Jourdan also began dancing in a sexually suggestive way in the classroom, shouting and slamming her hands on a desk before law enforcement arrived.
One student reported being physically confronted as class was ending. According to an incident report, the student said Jourdan yelled at her, used a derogatory term, and placed her hands on the student’s head and neck before moving toward her throat.
A school resource deputy responded to the classroom disturbance around 10:20 a.m. and found Jourdan yelling incoherently. An assistant principal instructed her to gather her belongings and leave, but she refused, reportedly saying she did not want to be tasered.
After continuing to resist, deputies restrained Jourdan and escorted her to the front office. Body camera footage later showed her arguing with officers as they attempted to remove her from the classroom. She told deputies she was not a threat and referenced a prior encounter with police involving a taser.
Jourdan was handcuffed and taken out of the building. Authorities noted in their report that she has a history of bipolar disorder and that her actions suggested a possible mental health episode.
She is facing misdemeanor charges, including disorderly conduct, simple battery, and two counts of disrupting a school function.
Lake County school board chair Bill Mathias said he was informed of the situation promptly and commended the students’ response, noting that many appeared to react with concern and sensitivity, recognizing it may have been a mental health issue.
