A late-night act of vandalism at the Ohio home of Vice President JD Vance has resulted in an arrest and prompted a federal investigation into whether the residence was intentionally targeted. Authorities say a man was taken into custody after multiple windows were smashed at the home in Cincinnati’s East Walnut Hills neighborhood early Monday morning while the Vance family was out of town.

According to court records, 26-year-old William DeFoor faces charges including obstructing official business, criminal damaging or endangering, criminal trespass, and vandalism, WXIX reports. An arrest report states that a U.S. Secret Service agent observed DeFoor enter the property and damage four windows of the home as well as a vehicle on the premises. Investigators say there is no indication the suspect entered the residence, according to CNN.

DeFoor has a prior vandalism conviction. In April of last year, he pleaded guilty to two counts of vandalism after causing more than $2,000 in damage to an interior design business, WXIX reported. He was ordered to pay restitution and undergo two years of mental health treatment. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
