Woman left jail, went back to stealing from men she met at Miami-area clubs, cops say

MIAMI — Deziree Hood just won’t stop stealing from men in the Miami area, police say.

Even after being slapped with charges in May after being accused of stealing pricey jewelry and valuables from two victims, police said the Wisconsin woman, once described as an “escort,” went back to the same thievery after leaving jail.

Police said Hood, 21, of Madison, Wisconsin, has a known modus operandi: “Meeting victims at nightlife establishments, accompanying them to their residences or hotels and leaving with valuables after they fell asleep.”

She’s now accused of targeting men she met at the Booby Trap on the River strip club in August and September.

Authorities said both incidents happened at locations in Miami after the men took her home from the strip club, located near the airport at 3615 NW South River Drive.

Miami police said on Aug. 9, a man celebrating his birthday at the Booby Trap took an “unknown” woman “wearing a burgundy dress,” later identified as Hood, back to his Airbnb and the pair “continued drinking in an upstairs bedroom.”

The victim then “placed two gold chains on the bathroom counter, took a shower and went to sleep,” according to an arrest report

Authorities said the victim’s brother saw Hood “rushing out the front door while speaking on the phone.”

According to police, after the victim’s brother woke him, he discovered that the two gold chains, valued at about $110,000, were gone.

Police said fingerprints at the home came back to Hood and a detective recognized Hood from her prior arrest on Booby Trap surveillance footage.

Meanwhile, on the morning of Sept. 11, police said another man met two women, one of whom was later identified as Hood, at the Booby Trap and brought them back home.

The women, according to a separate arrest report, “brought a bottle of Don Julio tequila, and one poured a shot into the victim’s mouth, which he later spit out. One of his friends also consumed several shots.”

Police said the victim couldn’t remember the rest of the morning and, after waking up, found that the women were gone ― and so too were the valuables in his SUV.

“His roommate reported hearing what sounded like vehicle doors slamming at approximately (7 a.m.),” police wrote in the report. “The victim provided an Instagram handle associated with one of the (women) and reported observing an unknown substance in the remaining liquor. The empty tequila bottle remained at the scene with apparent lipstick stains.”

Once again, a detective recognized Hood on surveillance footage, police said, and the victim later picked her out of a photo lineup.

The man said his stolen jewelry, apparel and cash were worth more than $25,000.

Hood surrendered at the Miami Police Department with her attorney on Tuesday.

She’s now back in jail on two more grand theft charges, on top of the three other felonies she was out on bond for at the time, according to jail records.

As of Wednesday, she was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
