Rockettes confirm massive change to iconic ‘Christmas Spectacular’ show

One of America’s most beloved holiday traditions is getting a significant update this year.

The world-famous Radio City Rockettes have announced the addition of a brand-new production number called “Ring” for the 2026 Christmas Spectacular, marking one of the most notable creative additions to the iconic show in years. The performance reimagines the classic holiday favorite “Carol of the Bells” through contemporary tap choreography, blending the Rockettes’ trademark precision with a more modern and energetic style.

Created by Emmy-nominated choreographer Chloe Arnold, “Ring” was designed to showcase a different side of the Rockettes while preserving the traditions that have made the Christmas Spectacular a holiday institution for generations. Producers say the routine combines intricate tap rhythms, immersive music, cutting-edge visuals and elaborate costuming to create a fresh experience for longtime fans.

The addition of “Ring” brings the total number of Rockettes dance performances in the show to 10, the most ever featured in a single Christmas Spectacular production.

The new number is also part of a broader technological upgrade for the annual production. For the first time, audiences will see live camera angles from overhead, side-stage and front-facing positions displayed on screens inside Radio City Music Hall, giving spectators an entirely new perspective on the Rockettes’ famously precise formations and kicklines.

According to production officials, “Ring” begins with a symbolic transition from honoring more than 90 years of Christmas Spectacular history into a celebration of the future. The performance builds throughout the routine as more dancers join the stage before culminating in a full-company finale featuring all 36 Rockettes.

The elaborate costumes created for the number feature thousands of crystals and a black-and-silver design intended to evoke the appearance and sparkle of a ringing holiday bell. Visual effects were designed by an international animation team known for creating large-scale immersive experiences for major entertainment venues and artists.

The 2026 Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes is scheduled to open on November 4, kicking off another holiday season for a show that remains one of New York City’s most enduring Christmas attractions.
