Nude burglar who terrorized community arrested after month-long search

A string of late-night “birthday suit” break-ins that unsettled an upscale Virginia neighborhood came to an end Monday morning with the arrest of a 21-year-old suspect.

Authorities in Centreville took Sedrick Walker into custody early Monday in connection with a series of attempted burglaries that reportedly took place between March and early April. Investigators say the suspect was repeatedly seen on home surveillance cameras moving through residential areas completely unclothed, aside from shoes and a makeshift blue cloth mask covering his face.

Frustrated homeowners had been urging police to act, prompting law enforcement to organize a stakeout on April 1, according to officials cited by NBC Washington.

Fairfax County police positioned detectives overnight near the affected neighborhood. A senior official, Maj. James Curry, described officers spending hours concealed outdoors in the early morning cold, monitoring for the suspect’s return.

Before sunrise on Monday, a detective spotted the naked suspect moving through the area near the surveillance operation.

When officers moved in, the suspect attempted to escape. Police deployed a drone to track his movement as he ran through the neighborhood. The chase ended when he vaulted a fence and entered the backyard of a nearby residence, where he went inside and tried to hide. It remains unclear whether he had any connection to the home or if he was simply using it as a hiding place.

Using the drone’s live location data, detectives quickly identified where he was inside the property. Officers then secured a search warrant and entered the home, arresting Walker inside.

Investigators say Walker, who had no prior criminal record, has been linked to multiple attempted break-ins during the unusual crime spree.

Residents expressed relief following the arrest. One community member, Larilyn Andre, told WJLA that neighbors “all erupted into cheers and applause” as police took the suspect away, praising officers for their persistence and strategy.

Walker now faces several charges, including burglary, attempted burglary, and indecent exposure. He is being held without bond.
