Mom-of-three attacked inside her home by crazed celebrity dentist

A mother of three was attacked inside her home by a celebrity dentist who tried to choke her before being shot dead by police.

Chloe Paul, a photographer, was working from home when Dr. Steven Lin broke into her apartment in Potts Point, Australia, demanding money on Tuesday.

He pinned her to the ground and began beating her, but she fought back, using her boxing skills, her family said. Paul then called the police, who tasered the 41-year-old before shooting him dead.

Police reported that Lin lunged at officers with a knife, prompting the use of a taser. When it failed to stop him, a single shot was fired, and Lin died at the scene. Authorities believe he was under the influence of drugs at the time.

Lin had also attacked one of Paul’s neighbors in the building’s shared laundry room.

Once a world-renowned dental nutritionist, Lin’s career declined after a battle with ice addiction following the breakdown of his marriage, which revealed he had fathered a child in secret. He previously owned two successful dental practices on the NSW Central Coast and wrote the best-selling book The Dental Diet.

His website described him as focusing on understanding dental disease through nutritional principles, claiming that crooked teeth and orthodontic issues are diet-related problems that could be prevented through public health policy.

Lin’s last social media post, on February 23, featured a video of a US man claiming all vaccines should be avoided for children, captioned: “Just needs to be said.”

Days before his death, Lin faced Wollongong Local Court on charges alleging he choked and assaulted a sex worker and stole $1,400 from her in March 2025. According to reports, the charges were dismissed after the complainant failed to appear in court.

Paul underwent surgery on Wednesday for a broken nose. Court documents revealed that at the time of the alleged incident, Lin had multiple prior offenses, including four bail breaches, two assault charges, two choking-related offenses, breaches of apprehended violence orders, and stalking or intimidation charges. He was described as showing violent behavior toward women and a disregard for court-imposed conditions.
