MAD MADURO: After Declaring Christmas in October, Embattled Venezuelan Dictator Now Says That the New Year Has Started in December!
Welcome to Nicolás Maduro’s reality.
In this version of Venezuela, millions of loyal militants are ready to bravely drive the “Yankees” back into the sea—even as the regime quietly carries out repeated purges to eliminate supposed traitors from within its own ranks.
In Maduro’s telling, Indigenous communities enthusiastically rally behind the Bolivarian Revolution in vast numbers, while Latin America’s citizens supposedly rise together to defend Chavismo as a single, united front.
Inside the mind of the Caracas strongman, he is a champion of peace—despite having threatened just 20 months ago to invade Guyana and seize the oil-rich Essequibo region. But, of course, this is Maduro’s world.

In that world, Maduro dances—awkwardly—and sings even worse, mangling classics like Imagine and Don’t Worry, Be Happy along the way.
Even time itself bends to the will of the “great leader.” Christmas in October? No problem. New Year’s Eve in early December? Why not.

According to La República (translated from Spanish):
“During a meeting broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro surprised viewers by announcing the arrival of the New Year ahead of schedule. The president presented ‘Plan 2026,’ a proposal outlining a series of political and social objectives which, he said, aim to move the country toward a more prosperous and peaceful future.
In the middle of his speech, Maduro declared that the nation had already entered the new year: ‘2026 has already begun. Today is 2026. It started early because everything we are doing now will allow us to move full speed ahead in building the homeland when January 1 arrives,’ he said.
So far, no official clarification has been issued regarding whether this announcement has any institutional meaning or is merely symbolic. However, this is not the first time the head of state has altered the calendar. In October, for example, he ordered Christmas celebrations to begin early.”
