Booed by the Crowd, Honored by Detroit’s Lions: Trump Gets Touchdown Celebration

President Trump may have faced some boos while attending the Washington Commanders’ matchup against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, but he also earned a touchdown celebration in his honor. After scoring the Lions’ second touchdown, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown gestured toward the stadium suites where Trump was seated with Commanders majority owner Josh Harris, then imitated the president’s signature dance moves—“pumping both fists in the air while swaying the hips,” according to USA Today.

Trump did not comment on the dance, but he did praise the flyover during the game’s “Salute to Service,” which honored U.S. veterans. “Was that the greatest flyover ever? Nobody’s ever done a flyover like that,” he told reporters as he left the stadium, according to Fox News.

His appearance came a day after ESPN reported that Trump had requested the Commanders’ new stadium—being built on the site of the old Robert F. Kennedy Stadium in Washington—be named after him. “That would be a beautiful name, as it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said.
