Driver pulled over after authorities notice ‘handmade’ license plate
ATWATER, Calif. (WKRC) — A driver in Atwater was pulled over after authorities spotted what appeared to be a “handmade” license plate.
The California Highway Patrol said the officer noticed the unusual plate while on patrol and discovered it was not officially issued.
“We’ll give this driver points for creativity,” the CHP wrote in a social media post.
However, authorities stressed that while they understand the effort to remain compliant after losing a plate, California law requires vehicles to display only state-issued plates.
The CHP reminded drivers that if a license plate is lost or stolen, replacements can be quickly obtained through the DMV instead of creating a makeshift version.
