NYC machete attack suspect has 45 prior arrests — and now charged in fatal hit and run involving cancer survivor
Bohler’s rap sheet includes a 2016 assault when Bronx deli workers refused to give him beer on credit.
A Bronx career criminal accused of a brutal machete attack earlier this year is now facing fresh charges in a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a Queens mother and cancer survivor, The Post has learned.
Police say 31-year-old Timothy Bohler — who has an astonishing 45 prior arrests — was charged in connection with the death of 52-year-old Lelawattie Narine, who was fatally struck by a motorcycle while out for a walk on March 22, 2024.
Narine, a mother of one, had recently completed chemotherapy for breast cancer and was declared cancer-free when she was hit.
“I’m really happy they got him,” said her son, Darshan Narine, 35. “He just left my mom. It wasn’t right. He could’ve called 911 or tried to help her — he just ran. I didn’t know he’d been arrested 45 times. How does he keep getting out of jail?”
At the time of the fatal crash, Bohler was already in custody on Rikers Island for a January 24 machete assault that left MTA worker Tayquon Young maimed in a Bronx bodega. Authorities say Bohler attacked Young with a machete after a dispute involving their dogs, chopping off four of the 34-year-old father’s fingers and threatening to kill his dog.

Bohler’s lengthy criminal record dates back years and includes a 2016 assault on deli workers who refused to give him beer on credit. In October 2024, he was also arrested on rape, assault, weapons possession, and unlawful surveillance charges in a domestic violence case, according to law enforcement sources. The details surrounding his release from that case remain unclear.
Even while incarcerated at Rikers, Bohler allegedly continued to lash out. On February 10, he was charged with robbery after stealing pepper spray from a female corrections officer and attacking her with it.
His latest charges stem from the hit-and-run that killed Narine, who police say was crossing 114th Street and Liberty Avenue in Richmond Hill when she was hit by a 2023 Jiajue motorcycle allegedly driven by Bohler — who was unlicensed at the time.

Narine fell to the ground with severe injuries while Bohler fled on foot, police said. She was rushed to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition and died less than three weeks later.
“When she went on her walks, she never carried a purse or wallet,” her son said. “At first, they had her listed as a Jane Doe. But when I saw the wig in her property bag, I knew it was her.”
Police have now charged Bohler with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, operating without a license, and other related offenses. He remains in custody on assault and menacing charges in the machete attack on Young.
Young’s mother, Kimtreese Young, said she hopes this time the justice system holds Bohler accountable.
“Oh, thank God, they got him,” she told The Post. “I just hope they keep him this time. They keep letting these people out over and over. Someone died — maybe this gives my son the strength to heal. When he lost his job after the attack, it broke him. It was like a domino effect.”
“He was such a strong person,” she said, “but that machete attack took a real toll.”
