Four anti-ICE demonstrators were arrested Friday during a volatile protest outside a Department of Homeland Security facility in Chicago, just one day after a federal judge blocked President Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops to the city.
Illinois State Police in riot gear clashed with protesters near the ICE facility in Broadview, where tensions have been mounting amid ongoing demonstrations against the administration’s intensified immigration enforcement, according to WLS. Protesters chanted “the whole world is watching” as officers wielding batons attempted to push back the crowd. Video circulating online showed several individuals being pulled from the crowd, restrained, and taken into custody by state police.

Authorities confirmed that the four individuals arrested face charges of resisting and obstruction, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office said, per WLS.
The unrest comes amid Operation Midway Blitz — President Trump’s initiative aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration in Chicago and other major cities. The operation has faced strong opposition from local officials and activists. To safeguard federal agents carrying out deportations, Trump ordered several hundred National Guard troops to assist DHS operations in Chicago. However, on Thursday, District Judge April Perry — appointed under President Biden — issued a temporary restraining order preventing the Guard’s deployment.

Friday’s protest followed a controversial decision by a local grand jury to drop felony charges against two earlier demonstrators, Ray Collins and Jocelyn Robledo, who had been accused of carrying loaded weapons during a confrontation with ICE officers outside the same Broadview facility on September 27.
Elsewhere in the city on Friday, WGN-TV video editor Debbie Brockman was detained by ICE officers in Lincoln Square after allegedly assaulting a federal law enforcement officer, according to DHS and the Chicago Tribune.
Video footage of her arrest showed Brockman being restrained on the pavement as bystanders shouted and filmed the encounter. She was then placed in the back of an unmarked minivan that sped from the scene, reportedly colliding with another vehicle as it left the area.
