Disneyland guest dies in Haunted Mansion after suffering medical episode
A woman in her 60s has died after experiencing a medical episode while riding the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred Monday evening when the guest was found unresponsive at the conclusion of the attraction, according to the Anaheim Police Department. Disneyland security immediately provided CPR until Anaheim Fire & Rescue paramedics arrived and transported her to a nearby hospital, where she later died. The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner will determine the official cause of death, said Anaheim PIO Sgt. Matt Sutter.
The Orange County Register initially reported that the woman may have suffered a heart attack. Disneyland officials confirmed that a guest required medical attention and was taken to a local hospital.
The Haunted Mansion, which opened in 1969, is one of Disneyland’s most iconic attractions. The ride takes visitors through a spooky manor filled with ghostly characters. Designed for all ages, the slow-moving ride features mild frights but no graphic content. According to Disneyland’s website, “The Haunted Mansion is dark and contains some mildly frightening scenes, but there is no gore. The ghostly residents are friendly and the ride is slow-moving.”
Versions of the Haunted Mansion also exist at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Florida, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris.
This tragedy follows recent reports of theme park deaths, including a man who died from blunt force injuries on the Stardust Racers roller coaster at Florida’s Epic Universe park.
