CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten surprised viewers this week by acknowledging that a majority of Americans believe President Trump is delivering on the promises he made during his 2024 campaign.
Enten noted that President Trump’s favorability numbers have remained remarkably stable since his reelection. “You go back to October 2024 — 44 percent of Americans viewed him favorably,” Enten said. “Now, despite everything, it’s 43 percent — well within the margin of error.”
According to Enten, this consistency is significant. “This was good enough to get Trump reelected back in 2024,” he explained. “Donald Trump is basically at the same point right now, which I think would surprise a lot of folks, especially on the left, who very much disagree with a lot of what he’s done.”
When asked why public opinion has remained steady, Enten pointed to one clear reason: voters believe the president is doing exactly what he promised. “A majority — 52 percent — say President Trump is delivering on his campaign promises,” Enten said. “The voters expected all of this from Donald Trump, and that’s why his favorability hasn’t really changed.”
To paraphrase Dennis Green, Trump is who voters thought he was. The majority (52%) say he has done what he promised to do.
His favorable rating is basically the same as it was a year ago (just before he won re-election).

Enten even gave President Trump a new nickname: “Steady Eddie.” “Donald Trump is who the voters thought he was,” he remarked, citing former NFL coach Dennis Green. “If you look at the numbers, Trump has basically the steadiest favorable rating this far into a presidency of any president on record.”
Despite constant political controversy, Enten concluded that President Trump’s approval level remains virtually unchanged — a sign that his support base continues to stand firm behind him.
