Teaching assistant arrested after using ‘poop’ spray at SC high school: Sheriff
FLORENCE, S.C. – A teaching assistant at a high school in Florence, South Carolina, has been arrested after allegedly releasing a foul-smelling spray in the building, sickening students and causing over $55,000 in damages.
Alexander Lewis, 32, was taken into custody on Friday, according to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators say that between August 25 and September 19, Lewis repeatedly used a spray purchased online that mimics the smell of feces.

The repeated use of the spray reportedly disrupted classes, and several students required medical attention due to breathing difficulties. The school district later spent tens of thousands of dollars on inspections and repairs to the school’s air conditioning system, which had been affected by the odor.
Lewis has been charged with disturbing schools and malicious injury to property. Authorities say more charges could follow as the investigation continues.
