Ted Cruz paints over ‘deranged’ anti-Charlie Kirk vandalism in Houston

Senator Ted Cruz personally painted over a piece of graffiti defacing a Houston roadside that included profanity and referenced Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist who was assassinated in Utah last week.
“Some deranged bastard put this graffiti on the 59 freeway in Houston,” Cruz posted on X (formerly Twitter) Sunday. “TXDOT has been notified & I’m sure they will remove it expeditiously. But, in the meantime, Texans don’t have to look at this hateful garbage anymore.”
Cruz shared a video of himself painting over the message, captioned “Erasing evil.” His action drew support from several public figures, including tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, who responded with an American flag emoji.
Tammy Bruce, a State Department spokesperson, praised Cruz’s efforts in a repost of a Fox News segment featuring the video. “Well done. Thank you from all of us @tedcruz,” she wrote, adding clapping hands, heart, and American flag emojis.
Following Kirk’s death, Cruz called him a “close friend” and described him as “courageous, brilliant, compassionate, and powerfully honest.”
