A tragic incident unfolded late Sunday night at a Brooklyn nursing home, where a 95-year-old woman with dementia allegedly attacked and fatally injured another resident, police and sources reported.
The altercation occurred shortly after 10 p.m. at the Seagate Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on West 29th Street near Surf Avenue. According to law enforcement sources, the elderly woman reportedly struck the 89-year-old victim multiple times in the head with a metal piece from a wheelchair during a dispute.

Staff discovered the victim in bed with severe head injuries. She was rushed to NYU Brooklyn Hospital, where she was initially listed in critical condition. She later died from her injuries in the early hours of Monday morning.
The 95-year-old resident was transported to Coney Island Hospital for physical and psychiatric evaluation. Due to her advanced age and diagnosis of dementia, she is not currently facing criminal charges, sources said.
Police have not yet released the identities of either woman.
On Monday afternoon, a piece of the wheelchair believed to have been used in the incident remained on the ground outside the facility, marked off by blue police tape.
One visitor to the nursing home, 77-year-old Elaine, expressed concern after visiting her sister there. “I’m a nervous wreck for my sister,” she told The Post. “That could’ve been my sister. Her poor family,” she added, referring to the victim.
