A 20-year-old Nevada woman with a reported obsession with firearms has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting her boyfriend while he was photographing her posing with a gun.

Allysandra Blea was arrested last week and faces one count of open murder in the death of 23-year-old Mark Gaughan, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Police responded to a call around 4:47 a.m. on August 23 in the 1000 block of Nassau Drive, where they found Gaughan lying on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the neck. Despite first responders’ efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Blea called 911 and claimed the shooting was accidental, according to CBS affiliate KLAS.

Investigators later learned that Gaughan had been taking Polaroid photos of Blea posing with a firearm near a vehicle when the gun discharged. A photo recovered from the scene reportedly shows Blea lying on another woman’s lap, holding a gun pointed at her mouth with her finger on the trigger. Another image also allegedly shows her finger on the trigger.

The woman in the photo told police that Blea was sitting on her lap when Gaughan took a picture. She then saw another camera flash and heard a gunshot, saying Blea had pointed the gun at Gaughan moments before.

A fourth person in the home at the time told authorities he had previously worked at a gun store and believed he had cleared the firearm earlier that evening. Blea and the other woman told police they believed Gaughan may have reassembled the gun while the women were changing outfits before the photos were taken.

As the investigation progressed, police uncovered a number of troubling social media posts allegedly linked to Blea. According to the arrest affidavit, she frequently discussed her passion for guns online and had posted photos of herself posing with various firearms — some pointed at herself or at stuffed animals. One post reportedly read: “I wish I could shoot people with real guns and get away with it.”

Blea appeared in Las Vegas Justice Court on Tuesday, where a judge denied her request for bond.
