BBC Yanks Ozzy Documentary Hours Before It Was to Air

Fans tuning into the BBC on Monday expecting to watch a new documentary about the late Ozzy Osbourne were met with disappointment, as the scheduled program was unexpectedly pulled. The documentary, Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, was set to chronicle the rock legend’s life, but the broadcaster announced it would postpone the premiere out of respect for the Osbourne family.

“We are respecting the family’s wishes to wait a bit longer before airing this very special film,” the BBC said in a statement to Us Weekly, extending its sympathies to the Osbourne family. A new airdate will be announced in due course.

The film was described by the BBC as “a moving portrait of one of the world’s most entertaining families at a pivotal moment in their history.” Shot over the course of three years, the project captures what would become the final chapter of Osbourne’s life. Initially announced in 2022 as a docuseries titled Home to Roost, the production was delayed after Osbourne became ill. It was later reworked into a standalone feature.

Osbourne, a heavy metal icon and former frontman of Black Sabbath, died last month at the age of 76. (Meanwhile, a tribute to Osbourne by Rod Stewart has sparked mixed reactions.)
