AT&T Customers May Get Up to .5K Over Breaches

AT&T has agreed to pay a total of $177 million to settle claims related to two significant data breaches that occurred in 2024, according to USA Today. Affected customers may be eligible to receive up to $7,500 in compensation.

Details of the Breaches:

  • March 2024 Breach: Personal data—including Social Security numbers and birthdates—of approximately 73 million current and former customers was exposed and later appeared on the dark web, reports CBS News. AT&T has allocated $149 million for this breach.

  • July 2024 Breach: Hackers accessed a cloud system containing call and text records from nearly all AT&T cellular users. The breach was disclosed in July. $28 million has been set aside for this incident.

Compensation:

  • Customers affected by the March breach may claim up to $5,000 in damages.

  • Those impacted by the July breach can receive up to $2,500.

  • Individuals affected by both breaches could receive a total of $7,500.

Filing a Claim:

Eligible customers are being notified by email and standard mail. More information and claim forms are available on the official settlement website. The deadline to submit a claim is November 18, 2025.
