Manhunt Underway After 2-Year-Old and Two Women Fatally Shot in Mississippi Home

Police in Jackson, Mississippi, are searching for a suspect after what authorities are calling a “horrifying and vile crime” left two women and a 2-year-old child dead inside a home over the weekend.

Officers were dispatched to a residence on Queen Alexandria Lane at approximately 9:15 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they discovered the bodies of a 26-year-old woman, a 30-year-old woman, and a 2-year-old toddler. Investigators say all three victims had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Jackson Police Chief RaShall Brackney condemned the killings in unusually strong terms, calling the attack “a horrifying and a vile crime.” She said the death of the toddler was especially heartbreaking, describing the child as “a defenseless toddler” and urging anyone with information to come forward to help investigators.

Neighbors said the quiet street was transformed into a major crime scene within minutes. One resident told reporters that he and a friend had noticed a vehicle leaving the home shortly before police arrived, but nothing initially appeared out of the ordinary. It wasn’t until officers began canvassing the neighborhood that residents realized something terrible had happened just across the street.

Investigators later located a red 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage belonging to one of the victims in Manhattan Park in north Jackson. The vehicle was unoccupied and has been recovered for forensic examination as detectives continue searching for the person responsible.

Police have not announced a motive or identified a suspect, and the investigation remains active. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shootings or the recovered vehicle to contact the Jackson Police Department or Crime Stoppers.

As detectives continue their search, community members are left grieving another tragic act of gun violence—one that claimed the lives of two women and a young child and has shocked even veteran investigators.
