Bride’s sister-in-law douses her in black paint moments before ceremony in horrifying ‘revenge’ attack

A UK bride’s wedding day was disrupted in a shocking attack when she was covered in black paint just moments before she was due to walk down the aisle.

Gemma Monk, 35, was being escorted by her father at her wedding in Maidstone, England, when someone called out to her and suddenly threw paint over her. She quickly realized the attacker was her sister-in-law, Antonia Eastwood, 49, who had been banned from attending due to a long-running family dispute.

The paint splattered across the bride’s face, chest, and white wedding dress, leaving her appearance heavily stained. According to reports, Eastwood then fled the scene.

Despite the incident, Monk did not cancel her wedding. After regaining her composure, she cleaned up, changed into another dress, and went ahead with the ceremony just two hours later, marrying her partner of more than 20 years.

Monk later said the day had been something she had long awaited and that she refused to let the attack stop it from happening. She also said she would have still walked down the aisle no matter how she looked.

The incident stemmed from an ongoing family conflict linked to a previous wedding a year earlier. In court, Monk described how the attack deeply affected her and her family, saying it turned what should have been a joyful occasion into a painful memory.

Eastwood was found guilty of two counts of criminal damage. She received a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and was ordered to complete 160 hours of community service. The judge said her actions had ruined what was meant to be a special day for the bride and her family.
