My Neighborhood Is Under Siege From a Disgusting Flasher. We Checked the Camera Footage, and … I Have a Big Problem.

Dear Abby,

My wife and I live in what’s usually a very quiet neighborhood, but for the past month our peace has been shaken. A man has been going around exposing himself to women who are out walking alone. It’s frightening and upsetting for everyone. Unfortunately, the police haven’t been able to catch him—the guy is always gone by the time they arrive.

Yesterday we attended a homeowners’ association meeting where neighbors shared security camera footage of the suspect. From what I could see, there was a distinctive tattoo in a very private area. Because of that tattoo, I’m almost completely certain the man responsible is my boss. I’ve seen the same tattoo before in the locker room at our company gym.

I haven’t told anyone what I suspect, not even my wife. I’m unsure what the right move is here. Should I confront him privately and tell him this behavior has to stop or I’ll go to the police? Or should I skip that step and go straight to law enforcement with what I know?
