Haitian Illegal Alien, Let in by Biden, Arrested After Savage Hammer Murder of Female Gas Station Clerk in Florida

FORT MYERS, FL — A female gas station clerk in Fort Myers, Florida, was fatally attacked with a hammer last week by Rolbert Joachim, a Haitian national who entered the United States in 2022 under policies of the Biden administration, officials said.

The victim, Nilufar Yasmin, a mother of two from Bangladesh, was reportedly struck multiple times in the head in the gas station parking lot. Surveillance footage showed Joachim knocking Yasmin down with a hammer blow before repeatedly hitting her while she lay on the ground.

According to reports from Bangladeshi media outlet RTV, the incident stemmed from a confrontation over an ATM inside the gas station. Joachim reportedly failed to withdraw cash from the machine and demanded money from Yasmin. When she explained she was not responsible for the ATM, he left but returned the next morning. At approximately 7:14 a.m. Thursday, surveillance footage shows Joachim smashing the windshield of Yasmin’s car parked outside the store. When she stepped outside, he allegedly shouted for the money and struck her repeatedly in the head with the hammer.

Yasmin had been working at the convenience store for just three months. She is survived by two daughters, aged 16 and 20, and was originally from the Kushakhali Union of Chandraganj Upazila in Lakshmipur district, Bangladesh.

The Fort Myers Police Department (FMPD) worked with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to apprehend Joachim on Mango Street in Fort Myers. Joachim entered the U.S. in August 2022 and was granted Temporary Protected Status, which expired in 2024, despite a federal judge issuing a final order of removal.

“This individual brutally attacked this woman with a hammer. His presence in the country under temporary status allowed by the previous administration contributed to this tragedy,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis of DHS. “The collaboration between ICE and local authorities demonstrates the importance of law enforcement coordination to bring dangerous criminals to justice.”

ICE has lodged a detainer against Joachim, and he is expected to face deportation regardless of the outcome of the criminal case.
