St. Clair Shores Rapper Killed On I-94 As Family Hunts Hit-And-Run Driver

The relatives of 25-year-old Shyann Washington are pleading for the public’s help after she was killed in a hit-and-run crash on westbound Interstate 94 in St. Clair Shores on February 25. Washington, known in the music scene as rapper “Shutup Shy,” was also working toward a career in nursing. She leaves behind a two-year-old son. Since the incident, her family says they have struggled to sleep while searching for answers about what happened that night.

Reports from FOX 2 Detroit state that Crime Stoppers has joined efforts to gather information that could lead to the person responsible. The station reported that the crash occurred late in February on westbound I-94 near the Shady Lane pedestrian bridge, between 8 Mile and 9 Mile roads. Investigators are handling the case as a deadly hit-and-run, and authorities have not yet announced any arrests.

Friends and relatives recently held a vigil to honor Washington’s life and keep attention focused on the investigation. During the gathering, her sister, Syerra, described Washington as someone who was fearless and unapologetically herself. Family members used the event to ask anyone who may have witnessed something that night to speak up, saying any information could help bring them peace.

According to CBS News Detroit, officers from the St. Clair Shores Police Department responded to a call shortly after 1 a.m. on February 25 and discovered a woman’s body in the right lane of westbound I-94. Police confirmed the victim’s identity and notified her family, but investigators have not released details about the vehicle involved. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the St. Clair Shores Traffic Bureau at 586-445-5318.

As the investigation continues, both police and Crime Stoppers are reviewing tips and any possible evidence tied to the crash. Washington’s family says they are holding on to hope that someone who was traveling along that stretch of highway during the early morning hours of February 25 may have seen something important and will come forward.
