Pasadena Humane raises staggering amount for puppy with no nose: ‘Long healing journey ahead’

A tiny puppy named Peanut is inspiring hope and generosity after surviving life-threatening injuries.
Pasadena Humane initially set a fundraising goal of $7,000 to cover Peanut’s emergency care, but donations soared to $23,000 by Friday afternoon, according to a spokesperson who spoke with the California Post.
When Peanut arrived at the Southern California shelter, his injuries were severe. He had lost most of his nose, suffered a dislocated jaw, and faced an uncertain future. Despite the odds, Peanut has shown remarkable determination.

Even as veterinarians monitor him closely in the ICU, Peanut wags his tail, a small but powerful sign of his fighting spirit. The road to recovery remains difficult.
Because there is not enough skin to fully close his wound, Peanut’s nose is slowly regenerating from the inside out — a slow and careful process. A tiny stent is keeping his airways open so he can breathe while new tissue forms.

His condition is still delicate, requiring constant observation.
The Pasadena Humane Miracle Medical Fund helps cover urgent medical expenses for animals in critical condition like Peanut. Donations are currently being matched dollar-for-dollar by Fetch Pet Insurance, up to $7,500.
For Peanut, every contribution brings him closer to recovery, a chance to thrive, and to wag his tail with joy once again.
Supporters can continue to donate and follow his recovery journey on the shelter’s social media pages.
