Texas DPS K-9 Assists Border Patrol and Captures 14 Illegal Aliens in the Brush
President Donald Trump has emphasized border security since returning to office in January 2025, stating that illegal crossings have dropped sharply since then. Officials say law enforcement agencies along the southern border continue to conduct operations to locate and apprehend migrants entering the country unlawfully.
Authorities in Texas report that troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) recently assisted U.S. Border Patrol agents in locating a group of migrants who were hiding in thick brush near the Rio Grande in Starr County. A DPS trooper and K-9 Stark tracked the group for more than a mile through dense terrain before officers apprehended 14 individuals in a remote area.

Supporters of the administration argue that federal authority to secure the nation’s borders is grounded in Article IV, Section 4 of the United States Constitution, which states that the federal government shall protect each state against invasion and domestic violence. They contend that stricter enforcement measures implemented under President Trump represent a restoration of the rule of law at the border.
