TUCSON, Ariz. — NBC “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie and her siblings issued an emotional public appeal on Instagram for help finding their missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, as Arizona investigators say evidence at her home suggests a crime and reports of a possible ransom demand have emerged.

Savannah Guthrie began the family’s message by thanking supporters for their prayers and describing her mother as the heart of their family. She made a direct plea for contact from whoever may have taken her, emphasizing Nancy Guthrie’s fragile health and urgent need for medication.

“Our mom is a kind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving woman of goodness and light,” Savannah said. “She’s funny, spunky. She has grandchildren that adore her. She loves fun and adventure. She is full of kindness and knowledge. Talk to her and you’ll see.”

She added, “Our mom is our heart and our home. Her health, her heart is fragile. She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive. She needs not to suffer. We, too, have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family, we are doing everything that we can.”

Savannah said the family is prepared to communicate but needs proof Nancy is alive. “We live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please reach out to us.”

Her sister, Annie Guthrie, spoke through tears, addressing her mother directly. “We are always going to be merely human, just normal human people who need our mom. If you’re listening, we need you to come home. We miss you.”

Savannah later addressed her mother again with words of faith and reassurance. “Mommy? If you are hearing this, you are a strong woman. You are God’s precious daughter Nancy. We believe that even in this valley, He is with you. We will not rest until we are together again.”

President Donald Trump said Wednesday night that he had spoken with Savannah Guthrie and pledged federal support for the search. In a post on Truth Social, he wrote that he was directing federal law enforcement to assist local authorities and that “all resources” were being deployed to help bring Nancy Guthrie home safely.

Investigators returned Wednesday afternoon to Nancy Guthrie’s Tucson home, where deputies with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department placed yellow crime scene tape around the property. K-9 units were also brought in as part of what the department described on social media as “follow-up” activity, without providing further details.

Law enforcement personnel were also seen at the home of Annie Guthrie, located a few miles away, where equipment was taken inside. Authorities have not explained the reason for that visit.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her residence around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the sheriff’s department. While officials initially did not describe the circumstances of her disappearance, Sheriff Chris Nanos said Monday, “we do, in fact, have a crime.”

A law enforcement source told Fox News Digital that investigators found small drops of blood leading from the entryway outside the home along a pathway toward the driveway.

Nanos said Nancy Guthrie did not attend her regular Sunday church service, and a churchgoer alerted the family. Relatives went to her home around 11 a.m. Sunday to look for her and called 911 around noon.

The sheriff said Nancy had dinner Saturday evening with her daughter Annie and son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, who later drove her home and made sure she went inside.

A spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News Digital that investigators believe Nancy Guthrie was taken from her home against her will, describing the case as a possible kidnapping or abduction.

During a Tuesday news conference, Nanos said investigators were pursuing hundreds of leads but declined to comment on whether a ransom had been demanded. “We are following all leads we have. That’s all I can tell you,” he said.

After the news conference, the sheriff’s department acknowledged it was “aware” of reports that TMZ received a written message demanding a “substantial amount” of money in exchange for Nancy Guthrie’s return.

The White House also commented on the case, urging anyone with information to contact 911 and expressing prayers for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return.

Savannah Guthrie thanked President Trump for contacting her family and praised the work of local and federal law enforcement as the search continues.

Earlier this week, she shared another message on Instagram asking the public for prayers and support.

“We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope,” she wrote. “Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy.”
