Bryan Kohberger may have come face-to-face with Idaho slay roommate days before murders

Idaho murderer Bryan Kohberger may have crossed paths with one of his victims’ roommates just three days before the deadly killings, a new report suggests.

Kohberger — currently serving multiple life sentences for murdering four University of Idaho students — was reportedly at the same Target store within two hours of one of the surviving roommates, according to Fox News reporter Michael Ruiz on X. A police report revealed a receipt for “BF” at 4:09 p.m. on November 10, 2022 — three days before the attack — and approximately 90 minutes before Kohberger’s own checkout at 5:42 p.m., Ruiz’s post included a screenshot of the report.

“BF” appears to reference Bethany Funke, one of the two roommates who survived the attack.

“It is unknown if F. and Kohberger were in Target at the same time,” the police report noted. Funke shared an off-campus house in Moscow, Idaho, with five roommates and lived roughly 15 minutes from Kohberger’s hometown of Pullman, Washington. The exact location of the Target was not specified.

Kohberger, 31, broke into the Moscow home during the night and fatally stabbed Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, and Ethan Chapin. Funke and Dylan Mortensen, who were in separate rooms, escaped unharmed.

Just weeks before his highly anticipated trial, Kohberger accepted a surprise plea deal that allowed him to avoid the death penalty. The deal frustrated some families of the victims, who lost the chance to seek answers through a full trial. He is now serving four life sentences without parole.

Since starting his prison term, Kohberger has made headlines for repeatedly complaining about harassment from other inmates and even over minor grievances such as the type of bananas he receives.
