A New York woman has been accused of making violent threats against President Donald Trump and Dr. Anthony Fauci, according to federal prosecutors. Authorities say the woman posted messages on social media expressing a desire to torture and kill her targets, as well as threaten mass violence.

Jennifer E. Curran, 40, allegedly made the statements on the social media platform Gettr. In one post cited in a federal criminal complaint filed in the Western District of New York, Curran reportedly wrote, “Might have to kill someone in my basement first before they take me seriously.” Many of the alleged posts were written entirely in capital letters.

“I am dead serious,” Curran allegedly wrote in another post, later adding, “We will make a big shindig of it!!”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Curran’s arrest last week, stating that she also threatened law enforcement officers who later contacted her. Investigators traced the Gettr account to a residence in Dansville, New York, where Curran lives. Gettr is a social media platform that promotes itself as a “marketplace of ideas” and is popular among right-leaning users.

According to the complaint, on December 5, 2025, the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center received a report about a Gettr user with the handle “@Word_Smith” who had posted multiple threats. These included alleged threats to kill the president, torture and kill Dr. Fauci, murder individuals in her basement, and carry out a mass shooting.

In a December 4 post included in the complaint, Curran allegedly wrote, “I am going to kill the president.” She also reportedly wrote that she intended to torture Dr. Fauci and even suggested blowing up the planet.

Prosecutors say the posts were still visible on Curran’s Gettr page as of Wednesday. When FBI agents and New York State Troopers arrived at her home, they observed that the residence was under construction and that the basement was lit with Christmas lights. Curran was allegedly found near the back of the home holding a hammer and behaving in an agitated manner.

According to the complaint, Curran admitted to posting the threats and said she was “very upset” and “very p—ed off.” She also allegedly stated that she wanted to hurt certain social workers and police officers. At one point, she reportedly said, “I got my f—ing weapon and I can do whatever the f— I want to you a—holes.”

When questioned about her online posts, Curran allegedly told officers, “I can post whatever I want. It’s called freedom of speech in this godd— f—ing fascist a— f—ing country.” Prosecutors say she then waved the hammer in a threatening manner and stated that if she had to kill someone on her property to make her point, she would.

“Get away from me before I assault you,” Curran allegedly said, later asking whether she should retrieve a nail gun. Authorities say officers were able to wrestle the hammer away from her and place her under arrest. She allegedly continued making threats while being restrained.

“I am going to bite one of you,” Curran reportedly said. “I’m going to kill all of you, you’re done … you better tell your families to hide!”

Curran has been charged with assaulting, resisting, or impeding a federal law enforcement officer with a deadly or dangerous weapon. If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison.
