Lakewood woman claims delivery driver stole her cat while dropping off package

LAKEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) — A Lakewood woman is seeking answers after she says an Amazon delivery driver took her cat while dropping off a package at her home.

The incident occurred at a residence on Hazelbrook Avenue. Diane Huff-Medina said she reviewed footage from her Ring camera after noticing her cat, Piper, was missing.

The video shows a delivery driver approaching the home and leaving a package at the front door. Shortly afterward, the driver appears to stop and pet Piper. Moments later, the footage shows the driver picking up the cat and walking away with her.

“I thought he was just petting her for a moment,” Huff-Medina said. “I had to watch it several times because it was dark. When I saw her tail, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”

Huff-Medina said Amazon informed her they identified the driver involved but have not been able to contact him. She also filed a report with the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station and was told the investigation could take weeks or possibly months.

ABC7 has reached out to Amazon for comment and is awaiting a response.
