Two small aircraft were forced to make emergency landings on Florida roadways Monday, including a dramatic incident in which a plane came down on top of a moving vehicle along Interstate 95 during the evening rush hour.
Video from the scene shows the aircraft landing on a southbound Toyota Camry near Cocoa, Florida, at approximately 5:45 p.m. ET. The plane appeared to bounce after impact as it came to rest on the car.
The two men aboard the aircraft, both 27 years old, were able to walk away without injuries. The driver of the Camry, a 57-year-old woman, suffered only minor injuries despite the severity of the crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration announced it will investigate the incident.
Earlier in the day, another small plane made an emergency landing near DeLand High School in DeLand, Florida. According to Fox 35, the single-engine Cessna touched down around 2 p.m. at the intersection of Plymouth Avenue and Jacobs Road.
Video from the scene showed skid marks in the dirt and the aircraft resting on its side with a door hanging open. Authorities said both people on board were conscious when first responders arrived. One person was transported to the hospital by air, while the other was taken by ambulance.
A witness, William Baith, told Fox 35 News he noticed the plane flying unusually low over the high school moments before it went down.
