President Trump sharply rebuked an ABC News reporter after she repeatedly asked the same “gotcha” question during a White House event focused on the economy.

On Monday, ABC’s Rachel Scott attempted to confront President Trump during a White House roundtable by shifting the discussion to a September 2 strike on a drug-smuggling vessel from Venezuela that was ordered by his administration. The strike was part of a broader campaign targeting drug trafficking routes in the Caribbean Sea. According to administration officials, the operation has included dozens of strikes, killed nearly 100 traffickers, and significantly reduced the flow of narcotics into the United States.

A November 29 report from The Washington Post alleged that Department of War Secretary Pete Hegseth instructed troops to “kill everybody” aboard the vessels and ordered follow-up strikes against survivors clinging to wreckage. Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) criticized the operations as “blatantly illegal,” claiming that Americans could eventually face prosecution for war crimes or murder.

During the event, Scott suggested that President Trump had pledged to release the full video of the September 2 strike—footage she implied could place Hegseth in legal jeopardy. Trump immediately rejected that characterization, stating that he never made such a promise and accused ABC News of misrepresenting his words.

The president clarified that any decision about releasing the video would be up to Secretary Hegseth. Trump also noted that he had personally viewed the footage and emphasized the national security importance of the operation, saying each drug boat intercepted potentially saves thousands of American lives.

Despite having received an answer, Scott continued to press the same question, repeating it multiple times. Trump responded forcefully, expressing his frustration with what he viewed as deliberate misrepresentation and badgering.

“I never said that. You said that. This is ABC fake news,” Trump told her. “Whatever Pete Hegseth wants to do is okay with me.”

When Scott again asked whether Trump would order the video released, he reiterated his position, explaining that the boat in question was heavily loaded with drugs and posed a serious threat.

After Scott pressed the question yet again, Trump responded bluntly, calling her behavior disruptive and repetitive.

“You are the most obnoxious reporter in the whole place,” Trump said. “It’s always the same thing with you. I already told you—whatever Pete Hegseth wants to do is OK with me.”

The exchange quickly became one of the most talked-about moments from the event, highlighting the ongoing tension between the Trump administration and hostile media questioning.
