A man in New Zealand is facing theft charges after police say he swallowed a pendant—worth nearly NZ$22,000—inside a jewelry store in Auckland. The 32-year-old reportedly entered Partridge Jewellers last Friday, picked up a high-end pendant — the Fabergé × 007 “Special Edition Octopussy Egg Surprise Locket” — and swallowed it. Officers arrived shortly afterward and arrested him on the spot. The pendant itself has not been recovered.

The locket is fashioned from 18-karat yellow gold, with green guilloché enamel, and set with 60 white diamonds and 15 blue sapphires. It references the 1983 film Octopussy — in which James Bond substitutes a Fabergé during an auction. Inside the pendant is a miniature 18-karat gold octopus, complete with black diamond eyes.

In addition to the pendant theft, the man is accused of stealing an iPad from the same jewelry store earlier in November, and allegedly taking cat litter and flea treatment — valued at about NZ$65 — from a private home the following day. He remains in custody and is due to appear in district court on Monday.
