Rep. Al Green Accuses ICE of “Abusing Women and Children” in Stunning Anti-Law-Enforcement Rant (VIDEO)
Democrats in Washington appear to be reviving a long-standing and troubling tactic: attacking the very law enforcement officers tasked with carrying out laws Congress enacted.
That approach was on clear display as Rep. Al Green delivered an emotional and meandering address during a recent hearing, accusing ICE officers of “abusing women and children” and calling their legally mandated actions “unconscionable.”
Green’s remarks went beyond criticism. They fit into a broader Democratic effort to delegitimize immigration enforcement altogether. Throughout the hearing, he repeatedly referred to immigration officers as the “constabulary,” claiming that simply watching them carry out their duties “breaks your heart.”
He portrayed ICE agents as if they were criminals acting “under the color of law,” alleging they mistreat both citizens and noncitizens—assertions he did not substantiate.
Rather than addressing record-high border crossings or acknowledging ICE’s role in arresting violent offenders through detainer programs, Green pivoted to emotional appeals. He told witnesses—Reverend Black, Mr. Brown, and Mr. Shapiro—that they, too, were “traumatized,” saying he had “tears” in his eyes.
But emotional displays do little to confront the ongoing drug crisis or help communities harmed by sanctuary city policies. What stood out most was Green’s call for political mobilization against immigration enforcement itself.
He urged “protestation, legislation, litigation,” encouraging activists to gather “on the steps of the Capitol” to pressure lawmakers. He framed ICE operations as an attack on democracy and accused Republicans of letting “one person dominate the House and Senate,” while overlooking years of Democratic support for executive overreach and weakened due-process safeguards in immigration courts.
Citing the upcoming election, Green urged voters to seek “redemption” from a Congress that, in his view, allows immigration laws to be enforced at all. November, he suggested, should serve as a turning point—not for policy reform, but for dismantling the country’s immigration enforcement structure altogether.
Meanwhile, Republicans continue to defend ICE officers who put themselves at risk daily—arresting violent criminals, disrupting human-trafficking networks, and protecting communities. These essential duties are now dismissed by Democrats as “unthinkable” solely because they conflict with their political narrative.
The hearing made the divide unmistakably clear: Democrats delivered emotional attacks on officers upholding the law, while Republicans stood behind the men and women committed to safeguarding the nation.
