A Long Island driver allegedly attacked another motorist with a boxcutter and bit his fingers during a violent road-rage incident Tuesday, police said.

Jayson Heitner, 26, was driving a Jeep around 3:40 p.m. when he collided with a 2017 Mercedes Sprinter van heading north on West Neck Road near Old Hickory Lane in Huntington, Suffolk County Police reported.

Authorities said Heitner then confronted the 60-year-old Sprinter driver, brandishing a boxcutter. During the altercation, Heitner allegedly slashed the victim across his face and body and bit several of his fingers.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for immediate treatment, including multiple stitches, according to the criminal complaint.

Heitner was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, a felony. He pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Wednesday in First District Court. He was ordered held on $75,000 bail, $150,000 bond, or $750,000 partially secured bond, and is scheduled to return to court Monday.

Heitner’s attorney, Chase Brown, said the incident began after the Sprinter driver struck Heitner’s Jeep. Brown also claimed the Sprinter driver admitted in court to holding a knife during the confrontation.

“He had a knife in his hand when my client went up to the car to make sure he was OK,” Brown told The Post. “He’s the one who started it. We look forward to exonerating my client. There’s a clear self-defense claim.”

Brown noted that Heitner, who is studying to become a physician’s assistant, currently works as a paramedic.
