Multiple suspects have been arrested in connection with a retail theft operation that caused more than $900,000 in losses across California.
The California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) Organized Retail Crime Task Force launched an investigation in September 2025 after The Home Depot reported repeated incidents of theft targeting their stores. Authorities said the suspects were part of a “sophisticated fraud and theft scheme,” allegedly damaging merchandise, removing internal components, and returning altered products in exchange for new items. The group was linked to hundreds of incidents at retail stores throughout the state.
Working alongside the Sacramento Police Department and the Placer County District Attorney’s Office, CHP conducted an extensive investigation that led to multiple arrests. On Nov. 6, search warrants were executed at homes and other locations across California, stretching from Baldwin Park to Hayward in Alameda County.
During the raids, officers recovered approximately $307,000 in suspected stolen merchandise, along with $59,000 in cash and 12 firearms. Photos released from the operation showed large quantities of goods taken from home improvement stores, including tools, power saws, lawn mowers, vacuums, and leaf blowers.
“Organized retail crime impacts not only businesses but also the communities they serve,” said CHP Chief Tyler Eccles. “The success of this investigation highlights the power of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and our retail partners. Together, we’re committed to holding those who engage in organized theft accountable.”
Authorities have not released additional details, including the identities of the suspects, as the case remains under investigation.
