Schumer slams ‘unhinged’ Trump ’60 Minutes’ interview: ‘Maybe I should file a complaint’

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) suggested he might file a complaint with the federal government over edits made to an interview President Trump gave to “60 Minutes,” which aired Sunday night.

“Maybe I should file a complaint with the FCC against the Trump White House for editing his unhinged 60 Minutes interview,” Schumer wrote on the social platform X. “It will use the exact same language Trump lodged against Vice President Harris.”

Schumer was referring to Trump’s lawsuit against CBS. His legal team had argued that the network edited an interview with Harris just days before the 2024 election to present the Democratic presidential nominee in a more favorable light.

Paramount, CBS’s parent company, settled that lawsuit last summer for $16 million. The company did not issue an apology or admit to any wrongdoing regarding how it handled the Harris interview.

In a portion of his interview not included in Sunday’s broadcast, Trump praised CBS’s new leadership. He has previously spoken positively about Paramount’s billionaire owner, Larry Ellison, and Ellison’s son, who now serves as chief executive of the media conglomerate.

CBS released a full transcript of Trump’s interview Sunday night—a move notable given Trump and his allies had previously pushed the network to publish a transcript of the Harris interview in the months before the lawsuit.

The White House promoted the interview Monday morning, calling it a “powerful interview” in which the president highlighted “record stock market gains, global peace breakthroughs, and his unwavering commitment to law and order.”

“Highlighting these remarkable successes, President Trump made clear to Democrats: reopen the government and work with him to keep America on the path to even greater prosperity and security,” the White House said.
