Ukrainian forces struck a key fuel pipeline in Russia’s Moscow region that supplies the Russian military, Ukraine’s military intelligence said Saturday, amid a relentless campaign of Russian drone and missile attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The operation took place late Friday, according to a statement on the Telegram messaging platform. The agency, known by its acronym HUR, called the strike a “serious blow” to Russia’s military logistics, according to the AP.

HUR reported that Ukrainian forces targeted the Koltsevoy pipeline, which stretches 250 miles and delivers gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel from refineries in Ryazan, Nizhny Novgorod, and Moscow. The strike destroyed all three fuel lines near the Ramensky district, the agency said. The pipeline has an annual capacity of up to 3 million tons of jet fuel, 2.8 million tons of diesel, and 1.6 million tons of gasoline.

“Our strikes have had more impact than sanctions,” said Kyrylo Budanov, head of HUR, referring to international measures imposed on Russia following its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
