President Donald Trump will appear on CBS News’ 60 Minutes this Sunday for his first interview with the network since reaching a legal settlement with its parent company, Paramount, over a controversial 2024 segment featuring then–Vice President Kamala Harris.

The interview, conducted by CBS anchor Norah O’Donnell, was filmed Friday at the president’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, according to Semafor. It marks Trump’s first major conversation with CBS since suing the network over what he called a “deceptively edited” piece aired during the 2024 campaign. Paramount ultimately paid $16 million to settle the lawsuit earlier this year.

CBS says O’Donnell’s interview with President Trump will cover a wide range of issues, including his recent meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, U.S. relations with Venezuela and Israel, the ongoing government shutdown, and the administration’s new immigration and National Guard policies.

The interview comes at a pivotal moment for CBS News, which is undergoing major changes under new editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, who assumed leadership in October following Paramount’s merger with Skydance Media. Weiss, a former Wall Street Journal and New York Times opinion editor who founded The Free Press, has vowed to steer CBS toward a “trust-first” editorial model focused on independence and transparency.

CBS News has already implemented several reforms in the wake of its settlement with President Trump, including a pledge to publish full transcripts of all presidential interviews and air unedited versions of major political sitdowns on 60 Minutes and Face the Nation.

Trump’s renewed engagement with CBS suggests a thaw in relations between the White House and the network, which he has previously criticized as part of the “fake news media.” The president recently praised Paramount CEO David Ellison and his father, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, calling them “great people” who “understand fairness.”

The high-profile sitdown comes just months after Paramount paid Trump $16 million to settle his lawsuit alleging the Kamala Harris interview was deceptively edited to benefit his opponent during the 2024 campaign.

The interview also coincides with significant turbulence at CBS News, which has laid off roughly 100 employees—including several high-profile correspondents and anchors—as part of Skydance Media’s broader cost-cutting plan to streamline operations and save approximately $2 billion. The restructuring has drawn internal criticism after several employees claimed that layoffs disproportionately affected women and people of color.

Despite the turmoil, CBS’s decision to feature President Trump on 60 Minutes signals a willingness to rebuild trust and restore dialogue with the White House. The episode airs Sunday evening on CBS and streaming platforms nationwide.
