Democrat Sarah McArthur — who describes herself as a “veteran” and “corporate administrative law judge” — is facing backlash after being caught on video hurling a vile slur at a conservative voter during a campaign visit in New Mexico.
The incident, recorded by local resident and former state representative candidate Tracy De La Rosa, shows McArthur referring to conservative voters as “MAGA faggots” after De La Rosa informed her that she would be supporting McArthur’s opponent in the upcoming school board election.
De La Rosa shared the video online, writing:
“A month ago today Charlie Kirk was shot and killed because someone didn’t like his opinion. Today a Democratic school board candidate came into my yard and called me a MAGA f****t because I told her I was voting for the other candidate because of her affiliation with Emerge NM.”
Emerge New Mexico, the organization De La Rosa referenced, is a nonprofit that aims to “increase the number of Democratic women and non-binary leaders from diverse backgrounds in public office through recruitment, training, and providing a network.”
HOLY SHIT: Sarah McArthur, a Democrat running for Roswell School Board District 1 in New Mexico, was caught on camera calling conservatives “MAGA FAG*GOTS” while campaigning at a voter’s home.
Sarah is also the former Democrat Party Chair of Chaves County.

In the video, McArthur introduces herself and discusses her background before the conversation turns political. When De La Rosa mentions she will be voting for McArthur’s opponent due to her Emerge ties, McArthur responds, “Well, we don’t want MAGA faggots either,” before laughing.
De La Rosa immediately confronts her:
“Did you say faggot? Because I got it on camera.”
McArthur replies, “Good. I’m glad.”
De La Rosa then ends the exchange, saying, “See you on Facebook.”
Following the release of the footage, McArthur posted a lengthy statement online attempting to explain her actions. In her message, she apologized and described herself as an “imperfect human” who reacted poorly after feeling “ambushed by hostility.”

McArthur wrote:
“I was not prepared for the open hostility I was greeted with… I responded inappropriately for the moment… I can and will do better.”
She added that she “supports LGBTQ rights in all fashions” and claimed the word she intended to say “was on the verge of a vulgar swear word” but came out worse than she meant.
De La Rosa, however, rejected McArthur’s explanation, saying:
“She came to my house on a Friday afternoon, walked through my yard, and called me a slur — and now she’s the victim? Hell yeah I’m going to share this. I hope it helps every single local race in the country. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”
McArthur’s campaign message of “kindness and inclusion” has since drawn sharp criticism, with many saying the incident exposes what Democrat candidates truly think when they believe no one is watching.
