5 hospitalized after helicopter crash in Huntington Beach

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — Five people were hospitalized Saturday afternoon following a helicopter crash along the Pacific Coast Highway, authorities confirmed.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 2:09 p.m. near the Cars ‘N Copters event site, located in front of the Waterfront Beach Resort.
Video obtained by KTLA shows the helicopter descending toward the street as onlookers watched, before suddenly dropping and crashing near the roadway.
Huntington Beach police said two people were on board the helicopter, and both survived. Three pedestrians in the street were also injured. All five individuals were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
City officials confirmed the helicopter was connected to the Cars and Copters event scheduled for Sunday. “The FAA and NTSB have been notified, and the investigation is ongoing,” the statement said.
No additional details about the victims’ conditions or the cause of the crash have been released.
