Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip fired a rocket toward southern Israel on Tuesday, marking the second anniversary of Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, attack, which this year coincides with the Sukkot holiday.
The projectile triggered air-raid sirens in the border community of Netiv HaAsara and “most likely” landed within the area, but no injuries were reported, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The attack follows a similar strike last Wednesday, when terrorists in Gaza launched five rockets at Israel during Yom Kippur. Four were intercepted, and the fifth landed in an open area. Air-raid sirens were triggered in the Lakhish region of south-central Israel, including Ashdod, but no casualties or damage occurred.
Hours before Tuesday’s launch, the IDF said its Air Force had likely intercepted two other rockets fired from northern Gaza. Air-raid alerts also sounded in several border communities, including Kfar Aza, Sa’ad, Mefalsim, and the Nir Am Shooting Range.
