“It grieves me as a native Texan. It grieves me as an American. Pastor Speaks Out After Muslims Take Over Chapel at Dallas Airport and Block Him from Entering

Pastor Tom Ascol, president of Founders Ministries, recently went viral after sharing his experience at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, where what was advertised as an interfaith “prayer service” turned out to be a Muslim-only gathering.

Ascol explained that he was at the airport preparing to fly home after visiting the family of the late Voddie Baucham, a highly respected Christian leader who recently passed away. With a heavy heart, Ascol heard multiple announcements over the public address system: “All are welcome to a prayer service in the chapel near gate D40 at 2:30.”

“I had very low expectations, thinking it might be some weak ecumenical offering,” Ascol admitted. “But I thought perhaps at least some Scripture would be read.”

When he arrived, however, Ascol discovered the chapel filled with men kneeling on mats as a Muslim Imam led Salah. Hoping to quietly observe, he approached the room — only to be stopped.

“When the man finished his audible prayer, I tried to enter,” Ascol recounted. “He quickly came and blocked my entrance as the Imam started speaking about the prophet Mohammed. He told me there was a chair in the back for me, but only if I removed my shoes. When I moved closer, he stood directly in front of me, making it clear this service was only for Muslims.”

Ascol said the incident was deeply troubling, not only because of the exclusivity but because of the deceptive way it was presented.

“It grieved and angered me that this type of false worship is not only taking place in a public facility but also being promoted in deceitful ways by DFW authorities,” Ascol wrote. “It grieves me as a Texan. It grieves me as an American. But most of all, it grieves me as a Christian who is jealous for the glory and honor of the crucified and risen Lord Jesus Christ.”

Despite the frustration, Ascol said the experience strengthened his resolve. He urged believers to pray for revival in America, for the conversion of those opposed to the Gospel, and for the truth of Christ to be boldly proclaimed again in public life.
