KFC just announced a massive change to its menu
While fast food chains are constantly evaluating today’s trends and releasing one-off menu items inspired by the moment—from cold foamed-topped dirty sodas to “swicy” hot honey drizzled entrées—it’s quite rare that a restaurant completely overhauls its menu. Lately, the closest thing we’ve seen to a menu revamp is chains adding new drinks to their menu, beyond the classic Coke and Pepsi.
McDonald’s introduced dirty sodas and refreshers, Taco Bell has vanilla cream-filled Baja Blast, and even Dunkin’ launched a new beverage made with soda and coffee milk.
And while KFC has kept up with the hype of new beverages, the chain knows that to keep customers coming back, it’ll need a lot more than a soda and some creamer.
KFC has announced a global menu overhaul that focuses on three new aspects, some of which were taken from its concept restaurant, Saucy. First, after spending years perfecting its fried chicken wings, drumsticks, and thighs, KFC is now going to focus more on its boneless chicken offerings. Next, it’s launching a new “global pantry” of sauces that restaurants can pull from. And, lastly, the chain is continuing to lean into its drinks with the launch of its beverage platform, Kwench by KFC.
As we saw in 2025 with the resurgence of Snack Wraps, chicken continues to grow in popularity at fast food restaurants. So, KFC is putting its 11 herbs and spices to good use with its new global menu overhaul.
The latest innovations can be simply summed up by three words: Dipped, Dunked, and “Kwenched.”
First, KFC is focusing on its boneless chicken tenders and sauce options by bringing some of the Saucy style to the chain menu. The new global sauce “pantry” features more than 20 sauces, from international-inspired flavors to cult classics, like Chimichurri Ranch and Hot Honey Habanero.
In keeping with the saucy theme, KFC plans to introduce new “Dunked” menu items. These are sauce-coated fried chicken tenders, wings, and sandwiches that will feature customers’ favorite sauces. KFC already offers Dunked menu items, like Buffalo Ranch-coated chicken sandwiches and Dunked Twister wraps in South Africa and India, with menu expansion planned for more countries soon.
KFC is also building on its beverage offerings (which already includes the exclusive Mountain Dew Sweet Lightning). Its new Kwench by KFC beverage lineup will feature Boba Refreshers, Krunch Shakes, Sparkling Lemonades, and Iced Coffees. This platform is currently available in select U.K. and Ireland locations and will be added to the permanent menu in Canada and Australia this year.
KFC hasn’t offered many specifics on when its new menu overhaul might roll out at restaurants across the globe, but it has announced plans to launch new Tenders and nine sauces. Restaurants in the U.K. and Ireland will receive KFC’s latest crispy chicken tenders and sauces this month, with plans to launch them in the U.S. and Australia in the coming weeks.
Additionally, just days after McDonald’s announced its new restaurant designs as part of the McDonald’s Next initiative, KFC has declared plans to open a new generation of restaurants designed with the environment in mind, rather than just efficiency. The new restaurant designs will start with an open-concept location in McKinney, Texas, opening later this summer, and a two-story, immersive restaurant opening in Dubai in the fall.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on KFC announcements related to this overhaul. But, for now, we’ll continue to enjoy the new honey mustard, sweet chili, and ranch sauces from KFC’s Supergirl Combo Meal.
