Florida Man steals ambulance outside Homestead Hospital ER
HOMESTEAD, Fla. — A 47-year-old man was arrested overnight after allegedly stealing an ambulance from the emergency entrance of Homestead Hospital, authorities said.
Homestead police Officer Oscar Roque reported that an off-duty officer stationed at the hospital witnessed the theft of the MCT Express ambulance and immediately began pursuing the vehicle, with support from other Homestead officers. The stolen ambulance was eventually stopped in the 2500 block of Northeast Eighth Street, Roque confirmed.

The suspect, identified as Arturo Morejon of Miami, was taken into custody and transported back to the hospital for medical clearance. According to the arrest report, Morejon had been receiving treatment at the hospital for hallucinations and was in the process of being transferred to a psychiatric facility when he left abruptly and stole the ambulance.
Morejon was later released from the hospital and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a charge of grand theft of medical equipment.
