White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt voiced strong support for President Donald Trump following his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York City on Tuesday, calling it a powerful rebuke of globalism and a defense of national sovereignty.
Leavitt appeared Tuesday evening on Fox News Primetime with Jesse Watters, where she praised Trump’s address, during which he criticized global leaders and emphasized the importance of national identity and border control.
“I am proud to work for President Trump every day, Jesse, but I was especially proud watching the President of the United States of America bring common sense to an organization that has made no sense for far too long,” Leavitt said during the interview.
She described Trump’s remarks as “tough love,” claiming he called out world leaders for harming their own nations. “The president took a sledgehammer to the failing globalist world order,” she said. Leavitt also criticized President Joe Biden, referring to him as a “globalist” and blaming him for damaging U.S. interests during his time in office.
Leavitt highlighted a portion of Trump’s speech in which he urged countries to embrace and protect their cultural identities. “They should be proud of their own heritage and culture,” she said. “Japan is beautiful and Italy is beautiful and the UK is beautiful because they all have their own unique history, and culture, and heritage. And they need to protect that just like we are doing here in the United States.”
Earlier in the day, Leavitt posted a clip of the speech on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing Trump’s comments on border security. She referred to one section as a “truth bomb,” and praised the president’s message that sovereign nations have the right to control immigration.
A portion of Trump’s speech read:
“What makes the world so beautiful is that each country is unique. But to stay this way, every sovereign nation must have the right to control their own borders—and to limit the sheer numbers of migrants entering their countries. Proud nations must be allowed to protect their communities and prevent their societies from being overwhelmed by people they have never seen before.”
He went on to argue for the deportation of migrants who violated laws or made false asylum claims and cited European statistics to support his point, stating that in 2024, nearly half of inmates in German prisons were foreign nationals, with even higher percentages in countries like Switzerland, Austria, and Greece.
“When your prisons are filled with so-called asylum-seekers who repaid kindness with crime, it is time to END the failed experiment of Open Borders,” Trump declared.
Leavitt concluded her social media post with the word “Amen,” expressing strong agreement with Trump’s message. Her remarks reflect the administration’s continued emphasis on immigration control, national sovereignty, and a departure from multilateral global policies.
