Roseanne Barr has blasted ABC after the network reinstated Jimmy Kimmel following a short suspension, accusing the broadcaster of hypocrisy in how it has treated her.

Barr’s hit sitcom Roseanne was abruptly cancelled in 2018 after she posted a racist tweet about former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett, a controversy that ended her decades-long run at ABC. Speaking to NewsNation, the 72-year-old comedian argued she has faced harsher punishment than Kimmel.

“It just shows how they think,” Barr said. “I got my whole life ruined, no forgiveness, all of my work stolen, and called a racist for time and eternity. It’s a double standard.”

Barr has long maintained that her tweet was a mistake made under the influence of Ambien. She also criticized Kimmel for labeling her racist, pointing out that he once performed sketches in Blackface on The Man Show, which aired on Comedy Central, not ABC. Kimmel apologized in 2020 for the performances, saying, “There is nothing more important to me than your respect, and I apologize to those who were genuinely hurt or offended.”

Barr suggested that Kimmel’s return will be celebrated by his “2,000 fans,” adding, “If he had defended me, maybe this wouldn’t have happened.”

Kimmel was suspended last week after suggesting on-air that Tyler Robinson—the man accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk—was a “MAGA” supporter. Officials later said Robinson held “leftist” views. In his emotional return, Kimmel told viewers it was never his intention to make light of Kirk’s murder, emphasizing that he had offered condolences to the family.

The controversy also drew fire from President Donald Trump, who lashed out at ABC on Truth Social for allowing Kimmel back on air. Trump accused the late-night host of pushing “Democrat garbage” and suggested the network’s decision could amount to an “illegal campaign contribution.”

“Why would they want someone back who does so poorly, who’s not funny, and who puts the Network in jeopardy,” Trump wrote. He added a threat to take legal action, boasting of past financial battles with the broadcaster: “Last time I went after them, they gave me $16 million dollars. This one sounds even more lucrative.”
