90+ shots fired in shooting that wounded security guard outside Detroit motorcycle club
DETROIT (FOX 2) — A security guard was injured in a shooting early Thursday morning outside a motorcycle club on Detroit’s west side, where more than 90 shots were reportedly fired.
Detroit Police say the incident occurred around 5 a.m. near Ewald Circle and Livernois Avenue. Officers responded to the scene after a ShotSpotter alert and found the security guard, a man in his 40s, with gunshot wounds to his leg and back. His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
According to Detroit Police Commander Philip Rodriguez, at least one or two suspects drove up to the club and opened fire. While it’s unclear at this time, Rodriguez said there may have been return fire from inside the building.
No arrests have been made, and the suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
More than 90 evidence markers were placed at the scene, though Rodriguez said the exact number of shots fired has not been confirmed.
The motorcycle club has reportedly been quiet with no prior incident reports, according to Rodriguez, who has overseen the precinct since April.
“This has been a quiet location,” he said.

Police are now investigating whether the club was operating legally at that hour. The department’s Organized Crime Unit and federal partners have been brought in to assist with the case.
As the investigation continues, Rodriguez urged for calm and civility.
“Conflict resolution is my message,” he said. “We need to make sure that we respect each other, respect life.”
