President Donald Trump stirred controversy online this week after posting a pointed message about comedian and actress Rosie O’Donnell.
O’Donnell, who relocated to Ireland earlier this year, has reportedly begun the process of applying for Irish citizenship. She previously cited Trump’s election win as one of the reasons behind her decision to leave the United States.
Since Trump’s inauguration, O’Donnell has been an outspoken critic of the former president, drawing attention for several public statements and social media posts critical of his administration and political movement.

Most recently, O’Donnell attracted criticism after appearing to link Trump and the MAGA movement to a tragic mass shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, carried out by a transgender individual.
In response, Trump took to his platform, Truth Social, on Wednesday night to post a meme mocking O’Donnell. He also wrote:
“As previously mentioned, we are giving serious thought to taking away Rosie O’Donnell’s Citizenship. She is not a Great American and is, in my opinion, incapable of being so!”
Trump and O’Donnell have had a long and public history of mutual criticism, dating back more than a decade.
